Our Story

I have thought a lot about how to tell our story. To me, it doesn’t seem very different from many of the recently started small businesses.

Before Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, I was a social worker that worked with children with disabilities. I loved working with the kids and their families, but 2020 brought a closure to my child care center, and remote learning for my children. This rapid change in lifestyle caused me to reevaluate my career path, and how I really wanted to spend my time.

Over the next year, I submerged myself back into the creative processes that I used to love, and tried a few new ones. I started with baking, because I thought I’d love to start a bakery. Unfortunately, even though I love to bake, I did not love it as a career. I tried resin art, but that just wasn’t for me. I had been tie dying since I was a kid, so I tried that too. I did enjoy creating things. I loved having an idea, and being able to create it. I just needed to find my medium. I eventually stumbled upon the laser community, and WOW! I have a friend with a 3D printer, and I always thought that was cool, but a laser!? That’s even cooler! So I set about learning about lasers, and trying to find one that would be good for such a laser newbie. I ended up getting a Glowforge laser and I absolutely love using my laser to create.

I started by making items for friends and family as I learned the ropes. Then I officially started Fluffle Family Creations in June of 2021. I loved being able to help people bring their ideas to live. I loved being able to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind gifts for people. I also loved being able to dedicate more time to my family.

Getting here wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my partner, Brett Ryder. As I was building this dream, he has been supportive the whole way through. From helping pick out a business name, to doing the vast majority of our leather work. Together we produce all of our products.
