Custom cribbage boards make amazing gifts and are a frequently requested item. We’ve put this page together to give more details, and hopefully answer most questions. Please use the contact form at the bottom of the page to start an order, or ask more detailed questions.

You likely got to this page from our standard cribbage board listing, but if not, our standard cribbage boards come with space to store a deck of cards, and the metal pegs. They are shaped and sized as follows:

  • 4-Person Cribbage Board is a rectangular board with rounded edges. Size (roughly): 15” x 6” x 1.25”
  • 3-Person Cribbage Board is a circular (round) board. Size (roughly): 9” diameter x 1.25”

Customizing one of these is the most straight-forward way to get a custom cribbage board. You tell us what you’d like on the lid, which inner design (card suits, or magical theme), and the colors you want the board to be. These boards start at $90 and increase based on customization. The most common customizations are: a simple single-color design (+$10), or a photo engraving (+$20).

Looking for something more customized?

We are happy to create different shapes and designs, wether it is a basic shape (heart, triangle, anchor, etc.) or a unique idea you’ve thought of. A completely unique cribbage board will take longer to create than customizing a standard one. This is due to the initial design phase, and will vary heavily upon how much design time is needed. It is always best to contact us at least one month prior to your deadline for a completely unique board. We always try to incorporate a spot for the cards and pegs, but that can be eliminated as desired (or to decrease cost). We are currently working with a maximum size of a 10.5” x 19”.

Look over the following detailed information about what this process looks like, and fill out the contact form at the bottom if you would like to discuss a custom cribbage board.

Some additional information regardless of what sort of board you’re looking for.

Turn-Around Time
This is going to range from 2-4 weeks. We need at least 2 weeks to create your item after the design has been approved, regardless of board type. If you are having a completely customized cribbage board, please add a week of design time. If your item needs to be shipped, add another week to ensure it gets to it’s destination on-time. We may be able to do your board in a faster timeline than this, but this is the general time estimate.

Materials
We use wood to make our cribbage boards. We typically use maple (which we can stain a wide variety of colors), and/or mahogany. We also use metal cribbage board pegs that come in gold, silver, black, and rose-gold. We do have acrylic, but the price will be much higher because of the increase in material cost and the additional time to work with the material. You may also have to wait longer for us to order material in the color of your choice.

Steps in the Process
When creating any custom design we typically follow these steps:
1. You come to us with your idea, and we discuss it so that we can come up with a basic design, and estimate. We give you an estimate for price on your board. If this is too high, we will discuss ways to lower the price, if at all possible.
2. We will do the design and send you pictures of a digital mock-up of your board. One round of design changes is included in the estimated price. If you need additional rounds of design changes, it is going to be an addition $5 for each round.
3. Once you approve the design, we send you an invoice. Invoice is to be paid prior to any work continuing.
4. Upon paid invoice, we will create your piece. We will send you photos once it is completed, and arrange for pick-up. If you require shipping, we will charge that during the invoice process and get your item shipped out to you (or your recipient).

FAQ about Custom Cribbage Boards

“Why do I have to pay before you make it?”
Due to the nature of customized items like this, it may be impossible for us to sell it to anyone else. If we make a custom item, and then the customer decides to back out of the sale without any notice, we are stuck with an unsellable item and have lost all the material and time that was used. It is a bad business move, and we are a business.

“I need this sooner, why can’t I get it this weekend?”
Unfortunately it just just doesn’t work that way. Even with the most basic customizations, we will need to allow for dry time. The glue, paints, and finishes all take a few days to finishing drying and be able to move onto the next step in our creation process.
